The Social Water Bonus, as per resolution 897/2017/R/IDR, is a benefit granted to low-income citizens and large families or families in economic and social difficulties.
This Bonus is a measure aimed at reducing the water service expenditure equal to 50 liters per person per year, corresponding to the satisfaction of essential needs, from January 1, 2020 the rate applied to the Bonus is calculated on the entire integrated water service, i.e. aqueduct, sewerage and purification.
Who has the right?
Household users of the aqueduct, sewerage and purification service in conditions of economic and social hardship, i.e. belonging to households, are entitled to receive the water bonus:
- with ISEE indicator not exceeding 8,265 euros;
- with ISEE indicator not exceeding 20,000 euro with at least 4 dependent children (large family);
- beneficiaries of Citizenship Income or Citizenship Pension
How to apply for the bonus?
From January 1, 2021 interested parties will no longer have to submit the application to obtain the water bonus at the municipalities or CAF.

How is the bonus paid?
The water bonus is paid according to the type of user, differentiating between direct and indirect users.
For direct users, holders of a supply for domestic use resident, the payment is made in the bill through the application, pro-rata day, of a tariff component to reduce the fees for the variable share of the water service and sewerage services and purification.
For indirect utilities fed by a condominium user, the payment is made through a one-off contribution, recognized by crediting the current account or with the delivery of a non-transferable bank draft.
