Water security plans: by year's end at 17

Water Safety Plans (WSPs) are a very important tool for reducing pollution risks and ensuring water quality in the drinking water system, from the point of withdrawal to distribution.

Each PSA is drafted by a multidisciplinary working group made up of in-house technical staff, monitoring (ATS, ARPA and the Area Office) and research bodies (Milano Bicocca University), and the municipalities involved.

From the first PSAs sent to the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS) and the Ministry of Health (Corte Franca and Verolavecchia), we have covered a total of 14 municipalities, for more than 120 thousand resident inhabitants, about 33 % of the total. Within the year, the municipalities covered will increase to 17, with the addition of the Desenzano del Garda, Sirmione and Leno.
